"Have you ever wondered if there was more to life, other than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?" - Derek Zoolander
Well yes, yes there is but, there's really no harm in showing off what 'yo mama gave you'.
Admittedly, not all of us are blessed with a definitive jawline, piercing eyes or an
Adonis physique, hell I'd be the first to admit my globular features and potato chip shape head don't exactly scream " cover boy "
But I promise you, with a little camera magic and crafty direction anyone can become pretty damn presentable or dare I say, desirable too.
And that goes a long way. For some historical precedent read this:

Now bear with me and unhinge your ego for a second, leave skepticism at the door and consider this; in my field, it's custom to turn proprietors from unsung heroes into front page leaders within a fairly short span of time.
In doing so, it's my responsibility to project my client in the best light possible and to secure exposure in as many 'appropriate' channels as I can.
These channels, more often than not require one specific thing alongside their story...
"A High-resolution profile picture - the more, the merrier"
Because a professional photo, like its namesake, screams professionalism! It makes a great first impression, encompassing in a snapshot; your credibility, personality, and personability. Be it for something as simple as a linkedIn page or as grande as a magazine feature down the line.
There really is no shame in getting some quality photos taken, because honestly you never know when opportunity strikes.
Even If you aren't out there to make a name for yourself ( although, you'd be crazy not to)
Sometimes a quality set of photographs can simply double as table setting for what you may one day aspire to become.
To quote Mugatu,
"( insert your name) is so hot right now."
